This is my first attempt at creating an interactive game HUD design. The image was created using Illustrator, with a wide range of techniques in order to achieve different effects. The most influential technique used in this design was the shape builder tool, which allows for constructing more complex shapes than the default shape tools. Examples of this include the character portrait border and the skull objects, which were created by merging shapes together and grouping. Another feature used is the Masking feature, which I used for layering shapes on top of one another. The feature was used to create the blood effects on the skull, to create the illusion of one shape when the actual image is two shapes layered using clipping mask effects. Notably, there is a weapon quick-select menu that shows when a button is held; this allows for a streamlined method of switching weapons in combat.
