Visual Production - Pre-Production stages

This is a rough storyboard of each of the 6 scenes in my Visual Production project, which makes use of Photoshop and After Effects to create a promotional video featuring the protagonist of my final major project (marked with an S). The project's purpose is to introduce this protagonist, with a brief synopsis of their backstory and other character elements.

1: Shows the protagonist as a baby from early in his life. The scene is presumably shown in his house growing up but could easily show the outdoors. This scene is set in Scandinavian land so the climate would likely be snowy, which could be animated. 2: Protagonist entering his house in the village, in his English settlement. He should be carrying something (weapons, armour, treasure etc). These first two scenes are intended to carry a utopian theme, as inferred by the background sunset. As for animation, the sun could be setting in the background which would change the scene's overall lighting.

3: Action scene featuring the protagonist fighting a Celtic warrior. Vikings typically used spears in battle with a sword as backup, as seen here, and Celtic warriors used more primitive clubs or swords, with less armour. Thus, Vikings would usually outmatch them on the battlefield. For animation, the characters' weapons could be swinging, arrows flying in the background etc.

4: Close-up shot of the two characters' faces from scene 3. Inspired by intro splash screens seen in fighting games (such as Street Fighter). The main focus of this scene is the characters' comical expressions. The background could have animated special effects with different colours on each side of the screen.

5: Dramatic shot of the protagonist upset over something(?). The scene is intended to be comically melodramatic, most likely over something trivial. The weather effects in this scene (rain, lightning) could be animated, as well as character expressions (tears etc).

6: Final scene shows the protagonist sailing, most likely with other viking soldiers. This scene is meant to be inspiring and light-hearted in contrast to the previous. Effects in this scene could include clouds and ocean waves. The video may end with a splash outro featuring the game's logo. Another key component of pre-production is the planning stage. Below is a schedule of this project's different stages, to be completed over the coming weeks leading up the the project deadline.
