Case Study: Edmund McMillen
Edmund McMillen is a game designer from California, USA. During his time in high school he was very fond of drawing and artwork, which led to his role in game design as a concept artist, as well as several games he drew and programmed himself. He built a noteworthy portfolio of Flash games, which can be found on Newgrounds, before he started designing fully-fledged games such as Super Meat Boy and Binding of Isaac.
At the start of his career he made comic strips featuring monster-like characters, but has since abandoned this in favour of video game artwork. His games have won several awards, including Game of the Year 2004 as well as Indie Game of the Year. His best game is widely considered to be Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, which was co-developed by Nicalis, Inc.
